Log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Participants will learn or review three pieces of Bon Taiko repertoire: Hokkai Bon Uta, Sohma Bon Uta, and Tanko Bushi for shime, kane, and fue parts. In addition to practicing the music and style of each piece, we will briefly discuss the history and context of each of the selections.

The morning of the intensive will be focused on building comfort and confidence with individual parts. In the afternoon, we will join with the other bon taiko intensive participants to rehearse all of the music together.

Prerequisites:
No experience necessary for shime/kane.
For fue, participants should be comfortable playing some simple melodies and be somewhat familiar with each piece. Please reference the recordings available on the website.

Please Bring:
The fue used in the recordings for these pieces are:
Hokkai Bon Uta & Tanko Bushi: #8 fue
Sohma Bon Uta: #7 fue
Participants may practice the pieces on whatever fue they have, but we will need to align to the above for performance purposes.
