Shamisen for OBON Classics

Log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Participants can expect to come out of this workshop with an understanding of how to perform Tanko Bushi and/or Hokkai Bon Uta and/or Soma Bon Uta on the shamisen.

The workshop will be divided into two segments. In the first segment, we will cover how to hold and hit shamisen. In the second segment, we will learn an arrangement for the shamisen. There will be two shamisen parts - one for beginner and the other for intermediate - so that participants can make a choice depending on the performance levels.

Prerequisites: Please listen to our three focus songs with the following links.
Music score and lyrics will be available for participants.

This includes the shamisen, bachi, koma, and yubikake. It is also good to have hizagomu and fujaku.

It is highly recommended that participants in this workshop also take Sumie's Sunday Intensive.
