Participants will learn three pieces of Bon Taiko repertoire: Hokkai Bon Uta, Sohma Bon Uta, and Tanko Bushi. In addition to learning the music and style of each piece, we will briefly discuss the history and context of each of the selections. Though we will touch on beginner- and intermediate-level techniques for general fue playing, this workshop will primarily focus on learning the melodies of each piece.

Prerequisites:
Participants should be comfortable with simple melodies played on the fue.
It will be helpful if participants are roughly familiar with each piece. Please reference the recordings available on the website.

Please Bring:
The fue used in the recordings for these pieces are:
Hokkai Bon Uta & Tanko Bushi: #8 fue
Sohma Bon Uta: #7 fue.
Participants may practice the pieces on whatever fue they have.
